Compared to white stone, the highest grade product at the time, tiger has a coarse grain size, and it cannot be used as a raw material for ceramics, so it is presumed that the reason it was classified as a third-grade product was because it was produced in large quantities. However, Iyo mokume harvested from current mining sites cannot be said to be third-grade in general. Compared to Iyo mokume harvested from mining sites in the past, there is a wide variety of grain sizes and hardness, with significant individual differences, and it is also highly regarded as an ornamental item due to its gorgeous appearance.

This Iyo wood grain has a circular grain called a "ring" in the center, giving it an appearance that makes it hard to believe it is wood.
